When I rebooted my computer, it would not let me into Safe Mode, nor would it let me go to Last Known Good Configuration. I do, however, want to explain how I came to where I am now.
Now before anyone accuses me of posting off topic and not reading the rules, please bear with me, I'm not asking for virus help here. I disconnected the cable to kill my internet connection as well. I also couldn't shut my system down through the normal process and had to shut it down the hard way. At that point, I noticed that this thing had apparently installed itself because I could see it on my start menu. I immediately hit ctrl-alt-del, but was denied access.
One was low virtual memory, followed by two related to svchost and I didn't get a chance to read what the other message said cause in the middle of my screen popped up a large box with Internet Security 2010. I was working on my computer this past weekend when all of the sudden, I got several error messages.
I had just decided to bite the bullet and get a copy of Windows 7, but before I could do so, things went to hell in a handbasket. Because I consider that I should be allowed to change/upgrade parts to my personal computer as much as I want without Microsoft's seal of approval, I haven't bought another copy of Win XP and refused to consider changing to Vista because I don't like it.
Now it seems, I've made enough changes that Microsoft has decided that my copy is no longer legal. Over the years, I have made quite a number of changes to my computer (upgrading parts, replacing defective parts, etc). Let me start by saying that I legally purchased Windows XP (Genuine) Home Edition version 2002 back when Win XP was first released.
